On my request, the Child Life Staff at Methodist Children's Hospital got together and gave us a "wish list" of items that they could use for patients right now. Then, Rowan and I had the honor of doing the shopping to fulfill that wish list. Today we dropped those items off, to some very grateful ladies. They have always been so good to Rowan and I, so it is a blessing to help them do the same for more patients and parents, through this foundation. My van was loaded from the front to the back, with all sorts of goodies...
3 carts full!
Here are some photos of what we purchased and delivered.
150 packs of white and colored model magic, plus model magic craft tools...
75 mini bubble sets...
60 cans of play dough...
gold, silver, rainbow and multi-color scratch art paper and scratch art sticks...
nearly 100 plastic and wood stencils for the scratch art crafts...
puffy paint, for making their own window clings...
120 make-a-masks...
6 infant lights and sounds aquariums...
additional musical and educational electronic toys for toddlers and young children...
assorted small lego sets to hand out to patients...
treasure box toys for toddlers and young children...
dinosaur and super hero treasure box toys...
and stuffed animals...
We always try to think of the parents that stay with their children in the hospital too, so we purchased individual laundry detergent and fabric softener packets for the parents in the oncology/transplant ward, who have access to a washer and dryer for personal use...
special flavored coffee creamers for the parents...
big, soft, fluffy pillows and nice 500 count pillow cases, for parents...
and toiletry kits for parents whose children get admitted emergently, without time to prepare or pack for themselves...
It is so rewarding to be able to present such a large load of items to such a deserving group of people. Rowan and I have been in their shoes far too often, and know how items such as these have helped us over the years. Thank you to everyone who has ever donated to the Rowan Jameson Windham Foundation...this is how your donations get spent:)
Love these ladies, and all that they do for the young patients and families at Methodist Children's Hospital, through their work in the Child Life Department. Can't wait to return during Christmas with some more goodies!
