Spreading the love at Seattle Children's Hospital too!

While Rowan and I were in Seattle recently, seeing the bone marrow and intestinal failure specialists, we decided to use his Foundation to bless patients at Seattle Children's Hospital too.  We always give to the hospital in San Antonio, and we branched out to the hospital in New Orleans last year, so this was a nice to add yet another location to our mission. Rowan helped me pick out all the things that he thinks patients like to play with most while they are stuck in the hospital (and he should know:).  Thank you to everyone who helps make our giving programs like this possible.  It helps Rowan and I so much, to take the focus off of our own medical problems, and help others.

First we made our trip to Target in Seattle, and buried Rowan in goodies for boys and girls of all ages.

Back at the hotel, we sorted through everything, put Rowan Jameson Windham Foundation labels on each item, and sorted them by age into bags.

Finally, we delivered them to the Seattle Children's Hospital Child Life/Volunteer Office, after one of Rowan's long days of appointments.  They were very grateful, and asked how we got started doing this.  They let Rowan know that they looked forward to helping him when he was back at Seattle Children's Hospital too, and said that it looked like he picked the perfect items out.

Until next time Seattle...

Public Inspection of Tax Returns: 2014 Tax Return, Form 990-PF

Per IRS regulations for a 501(c)3 organization operating as a private foundation, we are required to make our annual tax returns available for public inspection.  The following are key financial pages from the tax return that our foundation filed with the IRS for 2014. The omitted pages were not applicable or had no financial information on them but are available upon request.

As you can see, pretty much all of our operating expenses go to the purchase of items donated to patients and parents at the hospital. We have had no overhead costs, other than IRS fees (the $487.50 IRS fee below, was actually refunded later in 2015 due to an error).  Our banking is currently free, and we do not pay a salary to any of our board members.  It is our goal to keep this high level of standard, putting as much of the donated funds directly towards ways that benefit families in the hospital with their young children as possible.

"Art for Easter" and "Pillows for Parents" ~ Spring 2015

Today, Rowan and I were able to drop off more donations for the patients and parents at Methodist Children's Hospital in San Antonio, from his foundation: The Rowan Jameson Windham Foundation.

This whole car load was to bless those that will be there during the upcoming Easter Holiday.

Here are some of the specific items we were able to purchase for them...

We dropped off hundreds of filled Easter eggs for the post-op surgical patients to go on an Easter egg hunt next week...over 400 of them!

Easter Baskets for them to fill...

Stuffed Easter bunnies, chicks, ducks, lambs and pigs...

We also brought lots and lots of different types of art sets, craft kits and coloring books, sticker books, crayons, etc...

As always, we try to remember the parents who will be staying with them during the holidays as well.  This time, we purchased big fluffy pillows and 400-500 count soft cotton pillow cases to go on them, for the parents, as well as refillable water bottles that we filled with chocolates, chap-stick and lotion (all things that I have found helpful during my own long stays with Rowan).

Finally, we dropped off several boxes of flavored creamers for the parents on the transplant/oncology floor. (One of the charge nurses during our last stay gave me this great idea:)

Hopefully, all of these items will bless the Moms and Dads that will be staying with their children in the hospital during the Easter holiday this year.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered, contributed to, or participated in The Toughest Dog in Texas Competition this past October, and to those who made private donations to The Rowan Jameson Windham Foundation this year.  You helped make today's donations to the hospital possible!

Happy Easter!
